  • You are an adult (18 years or older)
  • You are in the intensive care unit and need a breathing tube placed (intubation)
  • Your clinician does not think it’s unsafe to use a nasal oxygen tube because of face or skull injury
  • You are not pregnant
  • You do not have total blockage of both nostrils
  • No other clinician reason says you are not suitable for this nasal oxygen approach
