Study heart function during rest and exercise in COPD
Part of Heart & circulation, Lungs & breathing clinical trials.
This study measures how well the right side of your heart works when you are resting and when you exercise, in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It may help researchers better understand COPD-related heart strain and guide future care.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You have COPD, based on lung testing showing FEV1/FVC less than 0.7
- You are age 40 or older
- Your COPD has not worsened in the last 3 months
- Your COPD treatment has not changed in the last 3 weeks
- You do not need very high oxygen (over 6 liters per minute at rest or over 10 during activity)

This study looks at how muscle oxygen levels and physical function change during exercise tests in people with COPD. It aims to better understand the body's response to activity and may help improve future care.
This study looks at how the right side of the heart and the lung artery work together during a severe COPD flare-up that requires hospital care. It may help doctors understand how to better manage these episodes.
This study tests whether a community exercise program can improve health in people with heart or lung problems. It may help if you are not already doing regular, structured exercise.
This study aims to better understand how COPD affects the blood vessels in your lungs by looking at measurements from a right heart catheterization. It may help doctors identify a specific pattern of lung and heart problems in people with COPD.
This study tests a special type of exercise (eccentric training) for people with COPD. The goal is to see if it can improve your breathing and daily function.
