Who can take part
- You (or your child) are age 0 to 15 years
- A doctor suspects pertussis and orders a pertussis PCR test
- No immune-affecting conditions or medicines (for example, immune problems, liver failure, or strong steroid treatment for more than 15 days)
- No pertussis-fighting antibiotics taken in the 24 hours before the sample
- The PCR result is available within 48 hours of starting the study
- Child is not under 2.5 kg at the time they enroll
