Drug WSD0628 plus radiation for recurrent brain tumor

Who can take part

  • You are age 18 or older
  • Your tumor type is one of these: glioblastoma (IDH-wildtype) or grade 3/4 IDH-mutant astrocytoma
  • Your cancer has come back after you already had radiation and chemotherapy
  • You can return to the study site for follow-up and agree to provide tumor tissue samples if your doctors can collect them
  • Your overall health scores and blood tests are in acceptable ranges (including enough blood counts and good kidney/liver function)
  • You can protect your eyes from light during treatment and for 2 weeks after the last WSD0628 dose

Sound and drug therapy for recurrent glioblastoma

This trial tests a new approach that combines a drug (SONALA-001 or 5-ALA) with focused ultrasound to treat glioblastoma that has come back or is growing despite standard treatments. The drug makes tumor cells sensitive to sound waves, and the ultrasound waves are directed at the tumor using MRI guidance. This may help damage cancer cells while sparing healthy brain tissue.
