Breathing support after a breathing tube in very obese adults

Who can take part

  • You are an adult age 18 or older
  • You have been on a breathing machine through a tube for at least 24 hours
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 40 or higher
  • Your medical team has planned to remove (extubate) the breathing tube
  • Your blood gas pH is within a safe range soon after a breathing trial (about 30 minutes)
