Comparing breathing support methods after a breathing tube is removed in people with heart failure

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have been on a breathing machine (ventilator) for more than 24 hours
  • Your heart's pumping function is weak, with an ejection fraction (how much blood your heart pumps out) of 40% or less
  • You do not have active COPD worsening or high carbon dioxide levels in your blood
  • You are not currently using a noninvasive breathing mask for conditions like sleep apnea or advanced COPD
