Who can take part
- You are an adult (age 18 or older) having cardiac surgery
- Your care team plans to use a thermodilution monitoring method
- You will be on a breathing machine (mechanical ventilation) during the surgery
- You do not have a life-threatening heart rhythm problem (serious arrhythmia)
- You do not have severe leaking of a heart valve (severe valve regurgitation)
- Your heart pumping strength (left ventricular ejection fraction) is 30% or higher
- You are not on a mechanical heart pump or other mechanical circulatory support
