Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are scheduled for a planned (elective) heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine (cardiopulmonary bypass).
  • Your surgery will include standard monitoring tools like a TEE probe (an ultrasound in your esophagus) and an arterial line (a tube in your artery).
  • You are willing to sign a consent form to participate.
