Testing orexin effects to reduce nicotine addiction

Who can take part

  • You are diagnosed with nicotine (tobacco) dependence based on DSM-5 criteria
  • You smoke at least 10 cigarettes per day for at least 2 years
  • You can talk normally with the study team and follow study instructions
  • You cannot have major mental health problems like psychosis, or a family history of mental disorders
  • You must not have other addiction issues (like gambling or online gaming) besides nicotine (and alcohol/drugs if allowed)
  • You must be able to have MRI scans and not recently use certain medicines
