Who can take part
- You’re 18 years old or older
- You have Hirayama disease with weakness that is mainly in one arm/leg and is getting worse
- Your symptoms started within the last 4 years
- Your symptoms have been progressing in the last 6 months
- There is no evidence your spinal cord is being squeezed by something else
- You agree to be randomly assigned and can return for visits at 3 and 6 months
