Who can take part

  • You’re 18 years old or older
  • You have Hirayama disease with weakness that is mainly in one arm/leg and is getting worse
  • Your symptoms started within the last 4 years
  • Your symptoms have been progressing in the last 6 months
  • There is no evidence your spinal cord is being squeezed by something else
  • You agree to be randomly assigned and can return for visits at 3 and 6 months
