Who can take part
- You have Parkinson’s disease that doctors believe is “idiopathic” (not caused by another known condition)
- You are age 21 or older
- You have had or will have 7T brain imaging (a specific high-strength MRI)
- You plan to get DBS surgery at the University of Minnesota, with leads placed in GPi or STN, using directional leads (and the implant must be bilateral)
- You are not pregnant
- You don’t have a major other neurologic condition, prior dementia, or serious DBS surgery side effects that could affect safety or the study results
