Who can take part

  • You must have a confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson's disease based on standard criteria.
  • You should be recommended for DBS because medications no longer control your symptoms well enough.
  • Before medication, your movement should be significantly affected, with a score over 30 on a standard Parkinson's scale and a Hoehn and Yahr stage above 2.5.
  • Your symptoms must improve by at least 33% after taking levodopa.
  • You must be 75 years old or younger.
  • You should not have serious psychiatric issues, cognitive problems, or other major illnesses that could affect surgery.
