Who can take part

  • Your child has at least one first permanent molar with a weak/defective area and a cavity or a defect needing filling treatment with numbing medicine
  • Your child is generally healthy (ASA I or II: healthy or mild medical problems)
  • Your child can follow simple behavior guidance for dental care (non-drug methods or nitrous oxide/oxygen)
  • You/your child can complete the study in English
  • There is no known allergy or strong past reaction to silver/other heavy metals, the numbing (local anesthetic), or study materials
