Radiation to lymph nodes after surgery for higher-risk breast cancer

This trial looks at whether adding targeted radiation to lymph nodes after breast surgery can lower the chance of breast cancer coming back in people with higher-risk, node-negative disease. If you qualify, you may get a planned radiation approach designed for prevention, not treatment of spread.

Who can take part

  • You are age 18 or older and were assigned female at birth
  • You had breast cancer surgery (either breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy) plus sentinel or armpit lymph node surgery, and your lymph nodes were negative for cancer
  • Your cancer is invasive and staged as T1 to T3, with no nodes and no distant spread (T1-3N0M0, Stage IA–IIB)
  • Your pathology shows at least two “high-risk” features: tumor size over 2 cm, tumor in the inner/central breast area, Ki-67 over 14%, and/or tumor blood vessel spread is positive
  • You have recovered from surgery enough for radiation (incisions healed, no infection) and your health status is good enough for treatment
