Who can take part
- You must be between 20 and 70 years old.
- Your body mass index (BMI) must be in one of these ranges: 20–25, 35–39.9, or over 40.
- You should not have had an acute (sudden) illness within 2 weeks before study testing.
- You should not have certain conditions, such as heart disease (including after a heart attack), kidney problems, anemia, or known liver disease.
- You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding, and you should not be having menstruation during the study period.
- You must not currently have (or be at high risk for) serious infections like HIV/AIDS or hepatitis B or C, and you must not have cancer.
- You can’t take certain medicines right before the study (including specific immune-related drugs and glitazones) and you shouldn’t take part in another trial within 2 weeks.
