Optimal Sweep Gas FlowDetermination of Optimal Sweep Gas Flow for Different Phases of Cardiopulmonary Bypass

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are having planned (elective) heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine.
  • Your surgery is not minimally invasive (small incisions) or robotic.
  • Your body will not be cooled to very low temperatures (deep hypothermia) during surgery.
  • Your blood circulation will not be completely stopped (total circulatory arrest) during surgery.
  • You do not need a very high amount of oxygen in the breathing machine (FiO2) that would prevent adjusting the target gas flow.
