Who can take part

  • You have persistent atrial fibrillation (a long-lasting irregular heart rhythm).
  • Your atrial fibrillation has not improved with medication or you cannot take the medicines.
  • You have not had a procedure (ablation or MAZE) to treat your atrial fibrillation before.
  • You do not have a blood clot in your heart (left atrial thrombus).
  • Your kidneys are working well enough.
  • You can follow up with the study team for one year.
