New eye test for hydroxychloroquine damage

Hydroxychloroquine Retinopathy

Who can take part

  • Age 18 or older
  • You have taken hydroxychloroquine for more than 5 years (or more than 1 year if you have high-risk factors like a high dose, kidney problems, or tamoxifen use)
  • Or you have never taken hydroxychloroquine
  • No significant eye problems like advanced cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, or diabetes
  • No recent eye surgery or infections
  • Not taking certain medications like amiodarone or sildenafil
