Who can take part
- Age 8 to 22 years old
- Diagnosed with cerebral palsy from low oxygen at birth, causing muscle tightness or jerky movements
- Medications for movement problems have not helped enough
- Your doctor has already decided that either deep brain stimulation or a pallidotomy is a treatment option for you
- You choose to have a pallidotomy (instead of deep brain stimulation) and agree to join the study
- No major brain abnormalities or other serious neurological conditions
- No other implanted devices like pacemakers or cochlear implants
- No current use of blood thinners that cannot be stopped temporarily
