- You are between 18 and 50 years old
- Your BMI is between 20 and 35
- You are in good general health with no major medical issues
- For HAPE-prone group: you have had a documented episode of HAPE at high altitude and live below 3,000 feet
- For HAPE-resistant group: you have traveled to high altitude without getting HAPE and live below 3,000 feet
- For healthy controls: you are a Colorado resident
