High-flow oxygen versus standard oxygen for altitude lung swelling

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • Your symptoms (shortness of breath, cough, or trouble exercising) started within 7 days of traveling above 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) in altitude
  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of HAPE with specific symptoms and clinical signs, plus imaging proof (chest X-ray or CT scan) showing fluid in your lungs
  • You cannot or do not want to descend to lower altitude right now
  • You are willing and able to give written informed consent
