CT scan to tell stroke from stroke mimics

This trial is testing whether a special type of CT scan can help doctors tell the difference between a stroke and other conditions that look like a stroke (called stroke mimics). If you have a sudden neurologic symptom within the past 24 hours, this study may help get a clearer diagnosis.

Who can take part

  • You must have had a sudden onset of a neurologic symptom (like weakness, trouble speaking, or vision loss) that started within the last 24 hours.
  • The symptom must be significant enough to score at least 1 point on the NIH Stroke Scale, which is a standard test doctors use to measure stroke severity.
  • You must know exactly when your symptoms began (within 24 hours before the CT scan).
  • Your doctors must be able to complete all the necessary tests to fully evaluate your condition.
  • A final diagnosis explaining your symptoms must be possible.
