This study is testing a special PET/MRI scan to see if it can better guide treatment for stage 2 or 3 rectal cancer. You may qualify if you have locally advanced rectal cancer and are planning to get chemo and radiation before surgery.

Who can take part
- You must have a confirmed type of rectal cancer called adenocarcinoma, and it should be stage 2 or 3 (locally advanced but not spread elsewhere).
- Your cancer must be within about 16 cm (6 inches) of the anal opening, as measured by your doctor.
- You must be in good enough health to get total neoadjuvant therapy (chemo and radiation) followed by surgery.
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to lie flat for about an hour for the PET/MRI scan.
- You cannot be pregnant or nursing, and if there's any risk of pregnancy, you must use highly effective birth control or agree to abstain.
