Who can take part

  • You must be between 21 and 60 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be 30 or lower.
  • You must be in good health (classified as ASA I or II).
  • You must be scheduled for elective (planned) back-of-the-neck surgery under general anesthesia.
  • You cannot have allergies to the numbing medicines used.
  • You cannot have skin infections near the injection area, bleeding problems, or a history of chronic pain or mental illness.
