Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You currently have severe major depression (scoring high on a depression rating scale).
  • You have tried at least two different antidepressant treatments that did not work well enough.
  • You have been on a stable antidepressant dose for at least 4 weeks before starting.
  • You do not have other major psychiatric or neurological conditions (like epilepsy or a brain injury).
  • You are willing and able to have an MRI scan (no metal implants or pacemaker).
