Who can take part

  • You are having a planned brain bypass surgery (called extracranial-intracranial bypass).
  • You are over 18 years old.
  • Your health status is classified as ASA 1, 2, or 3 (generally healthy to having a serious but stable condition).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 35.
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You are not allergic to opioids (like morphine or fentanyl).
  • You do not take MAO inhibitors (a type of depression medicine).
  • You do not have severe breathing problems.
