Who can take part

  • You are in the intensive care unit (ICU).
  • You have been using both non-invasive breathing support (like a mask) and high-flow oxygen for at least 24 hours.
  • You have heart failure with signs of lung infection or fluid on chest X-ray.
  • You are awake and able to follow instructions.
  • You do not have a tracheostomy, severe COPD, or a pacemaker.
  • No wounds or injuries on your face or nose that would prevent using a mask or oxygen tubes.
