- You are breathing 25 times or more per minute.
- Your blood oxygen level is low (ratio ≤ 300) while using 10 L/min or more of oxygen.
- Your carbon dioxide level is not higher than 45 mmHg.

- You have not been on high flow oxygen therapy for more than 48 hours already.
