Who can take part

  • You must have osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer) that has spread to your lungs, but not come back at the original bone site.
  • The lung spots must be able to be removed by surgery (like a wedge or segment removal) without taking out the whole lung.
  • You need to have had at least one standard chemotherapy treatment for your cancer and never taken the drug gemcitabine.
  • Your lungs must be healthy enough for you to undergo surgery.
  • You must be between 10 and 65 years old.
  • You should be able to take care of yourself (like with a walker or wheelchair if needed) and expected to live more than 24 weeks.
