Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You have atrial fibrillation and symptoms of heart failure (like shortness of breath, tiredness, or swelling).
- Your doctor has decided that medications to control your heart rhythm are not a good option, and you are being considered for a procedure called AV node ablation.
- You have either reduced heart pumping function (ejection fraction less than 50%) or a high NT-ProBNP level (a blood test for heart strain, above 365).
- You do not already have a pacemaker, serious illness with less than 1-year life expectancy, or severe heart damage that requires a special biventricular pacemaker.
- If you can become pregnant, you are not currently in that situation.
- You are willing and able to give consent.
