Saliva test for heart failure diagnosis

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have either chronic stable heart failure (CHF) or acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF).
  • If you have CHF, you have symptoms that limit activity (NYHA class II, III, or IV) and a specific blood test (NT-proBNP) level that matches your heart's pumping strength.
  • If you have ADHF, you have symptoms (like shortness of breath or leg swelling) and meet certain blood test or physical exam criteria.
  • You are not pregnant, do not have cardiac amyloidosis, and do not have an active cancer.
  • You are not currently breastfeeding.
