Can I stop heart meds after cancer therapy?

This trial tests whether it is safe to stop taking heart failure medications in people who developed heart weakness after cancer treatment but whose heart function has since recovered. It aims to see if stopping these drugs leads to any worsening of heart health.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and finished cancer therapy (except some hormone treatments) more than 6 months ago, with no plans for more cancer treatments that could affect your heart.
  • You had cancer treatment with anthracyclines and/or HER2-targeted therapy.
  • You were diagnosed with moderate to severe heart weakness (asymptomatic) within 1 year after cancer therapy, and your heart function has now recovered to normal (LVEF 50% or higher) on a recent echocardiogram.
  • You have been taking at least one heart failure medication for this heart weakness for at least 6 months and currently have no heart failure symptoms.
  • Your blood test for NT-proBNP or BNP is within normal limits for your age and sex (doctor will check this).
