Who can take part

  • You have a pleural catheter (a tube in your chest) that is not draining well.
  • You have a moderate to large amount of fluid in your chest that is causing symptoms like shortness of breath.
  • Your fluid collection has fibrous bands (septations) seen on ultrasound or CT scan.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your catheter is not blocked, and you have no active bleeding or bleeding disorder.
