Who can take part

  • You were in the intensive care unit (ICU) and needed a breathing machine (ventilator) for at least 7 days.
  • You have been discharged from the hospital.
  • You can understand and agree to take part in the study (provide consent).
  • You are able to climb at least one flight of stairs without stopping because of limited exercise capacity.
  • You do not have major health problems that would limit your ability to exercise, like severe heart or lung disease, or a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher.
