Who can take part
- You have a type of head and neck cancer (mouth, voice box, throat) that is not caused by HPV
- Your cancer is locally advanced (stage III or IVB) and can be surgically removed
- You have not had any previous cancer treatment for this tumor
- You are 18 to 74 years old and in generally good physical condition (Karnofsky score of 70% or higher)
- Your blood tests show adequate liver, kidney, and bone marrow function
- You agree to use effective birth control during the study and for 3 months after, if applicable
