  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have NOT been treated before for hepatic encephalopathy (confusion caused by liver problems).
  • You are not currently taking part in another medical study.
  • You can give written permission to join the study.
  • If you are a woman of childbearing age, you must have a negative pregnancy test and not be breastfeeding.
