High vs. low dose pain block after minimally invasive heart valve surgery

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for elective aortic or mitral valve surgery through a small cut on the right side of your chest.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You weigh more than 50 kg (about 110 pounds).
  • Your EuroScore II (a measure of surgical risk) is less than 3%.
  • You have not been using strong painkillers (opioids) regularly before surgery.
  • You do not have obesity with a BMI of 40 or more.
