This study tests if the drug dorzagliatin can protect kidney function in people with type 2 diabetes who already have mild kidney damage (shown by higher protein in their urine). Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either dorzagliatin or a placebo on top of their usual diabetes medications.

Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have type 2 diabetes.
- Your UACR (a urine test measuring kidney protein) is between 30 and 299 mg/g – this means early signs of kidney stress.
- Your kidney function (eGFR) is 60 or higher.
- Your average blood sugar over 3 months (HbA1c) is between 7.0% and 10.5%.
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy without reliable birth control.
