Who can take part

  • You have had type 1 diabetes for at least 8 years and are on insulin therapy.
  • Your kidney function (eGFR) is between 20 and 60, and you have protein in your urine (UACR ≥200 mg/g or ≥100 mg/g with a history of protein).
  • Your blood pressure is 155/95 or lower, and you are taking standard medications for kidney protection (like ACE inhibitors or ARBs).
  • You have not taken an SGLT2 inhibitor (like empagliflozin or dapagliflozin) in the last 2 months, and you are not on certain other glucose-lowering medications unless stable.
  • You are willing to wear a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for the entire study and attend all study visits.
