This study tests whether a furosemide (a water pill) stress test can help doctors decide when to safely stop continuous kidney replacement therapy in ICU patients with severe acute kidney injury. It may allow you to come off the machine sooner if your kidneys respond well.

Who can take part

  • You are 20 years old or older.
  • You have severe acute kidney injury (stage 3) with very low urine output (less than 400 ml per day).
  • You have been on continuous kidney replacement therapy (CRRT) in the ICU for at least 48 hours.
  • You are not on any blood pressure support medications like norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine, or dobutamine.
  • Your blood work shows certain levels are too high or too low (like BUN, potassium, pH, or bicarbonate) that would make this trial unsafe.
