Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older and can give consent.
- You have been diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT).
- You are scheduled for exploratory parathyroid surgery with a test called intraoperative PTH (ioPTH) measurement.
- You do not have a very clear imaging result that would allow a smaller, focused surgery.
- You have not had previous thyroid or parathyroid surgery, and you are not having thyroid surgery at the same time.
- You do not have MEN (multiple endocrine neoplasia), lithium-induced hyperparathyroidism, severe kidney disease (eGFR below 30), or a kidney transplant.
