  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled for thyroid surgery (removal of part or all of your thyroid)
  • You have not had previous parathyroid surgery
  • You do not have severe kidney disease that affects calcium and hormone levels
  • You are able and willing to have blood tests and follow-up visits after surgery
  • You are not currently pregnant
