Who can take part

  • You are in good health or have only mild systemic disease (classified as ASA I or II by your anesthesiologist).
  • You are having a low- or intermediate-risk elective surgery (not an emergency).
  • You do not have any neurological condition (like epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson’s, or multiple sclerosis).
  • You do not have any psychiatric condition (like depression, anxiety, or schizophrenia).
  • You are not taking psychoactive medications or opioids (like antidepressants, sedatives, or strong painkillers).
  • You do not have an allergy to propofol (a common anesthesia drug).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or lower.
  • You do not have pre-existing kidney, heart, or liver problems.
