Comparing two markers to measure kidney function in intensive care

Who can take part

  • You have kidney failure that started suddenly (acute) or you have chronic kidney disease that is getting worse, and you are in the intensive care unit.
  • Your blood circulation is stable, meaning your heart and blood pressure are steady.
  • If you have chronic kidney disease and are not in the ICU, you are seen in an outpatient clinic.
  • You do not have severe fluid buildup in your belly or legs (called ascites or edema).
  • You have not received intravenous paracetamol (a painkiller) during the study period.
  • You have not had an iohexol test in the past few days.
