Bromocriptine for Heart Weakness in Women 18-50

Dilated Cardiomyopathy

This trial tests a medicine called bromocriptine to see if it helps women with a weak heart muscle (dilated cardiomyopathy). It is for women between 18 and 50 whose heart weakness was found recently or is caused by blocked arteries, and who are not pregnant or planning pregnancy.

Who can take part

  • You are a woman aged 18 to 50 years old.
  • You have a type of heart muscle weakness (dilated cardiomyopathy) that is either new or caused by blocked heart arteries.
  • You do not have other serious heart conditions like valve problems, congenital defects, or high blood pressure-related heart disease.
  • You are not pregnant, planning pregnancy, breastfeeding, and have not had heart failure after a past pregnancy.
  • Your kidney function is normal (creatinine level below 1.4 mg/dL).
  • You have never had a bad reaction to bromocriptine and are willing to take part in the study.
