This trial tests whether the steroid prednisone can safely and effectively help people whose liver has been damaged by a medication and hasn't started to improve after stopping that drug. If you have moderate to severe liver injury from a medicine and your liver enzymes are still high, this might be an option.

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • Your liver injury must have been caused by a medication (diagnosed by a specialist).
  • Your liver injury must be moderate to severe (liver enzymes at least 5 times normal and bilirubin high).
  • Your liver tests did not improve significantly within 5-10 days after stopping the medication.
  • You cannot have taken immune checkpoint inhibitors, have active infections, liver failure, certain viruses (hepatitis B/C, HIV), or be on steroids or immunosuppressants.
