Magnetic heart scan for diagnosing reduced blood flow

This study tests a new, noninvasive way to detect reduced blood flow to the heart (myocardial ischemia) using a magnetic heart scan called MCG. If you have chest pain or similar symptoms but your narrowed arteries are not severely blocked, this trial may help diagnose your condition more accurately.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have symptoms of reduced blood flow to the heart, such as chest pain (angina).
  • A heart catheterization or CT scan has shown that your narrowed arteries are not severely blocked (less than 70% blockage).
  • You do not have a recent heart attack (within the last 48 hours), severe left main artery blockage, asthma, or allergy to the medication adenosine.
  • You do not have certain other heart conditions, very low blood pressure, severe kidney disease, or a cancer with less than a year life expectancy.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and can safely undergo a special magnetic heart scan (MCG).
