Who can take part

  • If you’re a healthy volunteer: you’re 18–79 and have no past heart disease or stroke
  • If you’re a healthy volunteer over 65: blood pressure and cholesterol must be well controlled on limited meds, and heart ultrasound should look normal
  • Your heart tests must be suitable: a normal ECG (healthy volunteers) or a chest-pain diagnosis like angina or heart attack suspicion (chest-pain group)
  • You must be able to complete the magnetocardiography scan (no severe claustrophobia and able to cooperate)
  • You must not have certain conditions like serious lung disease, major liver/kidney problems, uncontrolled thyroid disease, anemia or blood disorders, or certain autoimmune (connective tissue) diseases
  • You must not have metal implants or other reasons you can’t safely have the related MRI screening rules, if applicable
