Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been living in Ontario without moving away for the past 5 years.
  • You have a lung infection caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium avium (NTM lung disease).
  • You have a stored sample of the bacteria from before you started treatment (available at a lab in Ontario).
  • You are able to cough up sputum (phlegm) or can have it brought up with a special salty mist treatment.
  • You do not have HIV, cystic fibrosis, a history of organ transplant, or a cavity in your lung larger than 3 cm.
