Who can take part

  • You are generally healthy and need a premolar or molar tooth pulled with plans for a dental implant later.
  • You have enough firm gum tissue (at least 2 millimeters) around the tooth to be removed.
  • The bone on the cheek side of the tooth is not more than 3 millimeters thin or missing.
  • You do not smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day or use e-cigarettes.
  • You do not have uncontrolled health problems like severe high blood pressure, diabetes with A1C over 7, or recent cancer or stroke, and you are not taking medications that slow bone healing.
  • You are not pregnant, nursing, or trying to become pregnant.
